Who is Smiles by Design

What is the Smiles by Design treatment?


This treatment involves wearing a series of removable, clear aligners for at least 22 hours a day, which gradually straightens your teeth.




What do the aligners look like and what are they made of?


The aligners will look like clear shells for your teeth with gradual changes intended to shift your teeth. The material is clear making it hard to spot in the mouth.




How will clear aligners straighten my teeth?


Your treatment plan will determine and design aligners that will apply the right amount of force on the right places to shift your teeth to create the desired effect.




Am I guaranteed straighter teeth with Smiles by Design aligners?


We are unable to guarantee a particular result, however we encourage you to share your goals for the process so that we can include it in your treatment plan.

Has Health Canada approved Smiles by Design treatment?


All materials are approved by Health Canada and are safe to use.




What are the risks of the treatment?


Smiles by Design treatment is very safe and all materials are approved by Health Canada. A concern for some people is that because of the shifting teeth, your bite can be affected. However, this change is inevitable and can occur with any teeth straightening options, including going to the orthodontist directly.





Treatment Process

What is a 'treatment process'?


The treatment process is the orthodontist’s plan to straighten your teeth.




How do I prepare the impression material?


Brush and floss your teeth before you begin. Open the first impression material pack and fold the two halves to join the material. Quickly mix the white and purple putty together until it is a uniform color. Roll the putty into an evenly shaped log that is about 4” in length and pack it evenly into one of the impression trays.




How do I make a good first impression?


Press the tray firmly into your upper teeth with even pressure, placing the most pressure on the back teeth, and hold the tray in place for 3 minutes. Avoid wiggling or moving the tray during this time. After this, place the tray on a clean surface and use paper towel to gently remove any excess liquid from the mold of your teeth (careful not to damage the impression). Repeat the process 3 more times to finish with 2 upper molds and 2 lower molds.




What do I do once I’ve finished taking the impressions?


Once you have finished taking your 4 impressions, place the 4 impressions in the return bag. Make sure the return bag is sealed properly. Stick the return label to the bottom of the box, seal the box with the provided sticker, and drop the box off at your local FedEx store by the posted return date (found on the back side of the box).




How do I make sure to get a good impression on the first try?


Here are some simple tips to consider:

  • Do not bite down on the tray
  • Keep the tray still when it is in your mouth
  • Make sure you press the tray firmly and evenly into place
  • Make sure you put the most pressure on the back teeth
  • Only open one set of materials at a time




How often will I receive my aligners?


Depending on your plan you will receive a set of aligners on a monthly basis or all of them at the beginning of the treatment. Along with the aligners, you will receive a custom treatment plan that is unique to your needs.




How long will it take to receive the impression kit?


The impression kit should arrive within 2-6 business days.




Once I send my impressions, how long will it take to receive my first set of aligners?


Once we receive your impressions, you will receive your clear aligners within 2 weeks.




What should I do if the impression trays do not fit my mouth?


If the impression trays do not fit in your mouth, contact us so that we can send you another set that is better suited for your mouth size.




How long does the entire treatment process take?


The time frame from start to finish is different for every individual. The process can take anywhere from 6 months to 2 years but most cases will only last 10 months. Once our team of orthodontists review your case, you will get an estimated time frame.




Should I continue to see my orthodontist throughout this process?


We recommend to regularly check in with your dentist throughout this process.




Can I get aligners for just my top or bottom teeth instead of both?


Options are available to get aligners for just your top or bottom teeth.




How long does it take to get my aligners?


From the moment you order your impression kit to the moment you receive your aligners in the mail, your process will take an average of 2-3 weeks. You will receive updates during each step of the process and each update will give you an estimated time. If you dont get an update by the estimated timeline, feel free to contact us for more information.

Who will be making my aligners?


Our team of highly trained orthodontists will be reviewing your case, Creating your treatment plan, and giving their seal of approval before you receive your aligners. We also use a team of skilled designers to create your aligners and give you the best possible service.




What are the main benefits of using Smiles by Design aligners?


These aligners are removable and invisible, making it difficult to spot. Additionally, there are no metal brackets or wires causing sores in your mouth.





Affect on my Life

Do the aligners or the impressions hurt?


Taking the impressions will not hurt. However, throughout the process of using the aligners you may experience slight discomfort. To alleviate this discomfort, we recommend taking ibuprofen or acetaminophen. Consult a doctor before taking any non prescribed medication.




How often should I wear the aligners?


Wear the aligners for at least 22 hours a day, making sure to take them off for eating, brushing teeth, and cleaning them.




How is Smiles by Design different from other teeth straightening options?


Unlike braces, Smiles by Design aligners are virtually invisible and removable. You don’t have to change the way you brush and floss your teeth and you can continue to eat whatever you’d like.




Will anyone be able to tell that I’m wearing aligners?


Smiles by Design aligners are clear and very discrete. Others may not be able to tell that you’re wearing them.




Can I take off my aligners whenever I need to?


You can take off your aligners to eat, brush your teeth, and floss. However, we recommend wearing them for at least 22 hours a day to get the best result.




Are there any food restrictions during my treatment plan?


Since you are able to remove the aligners, there are no food restrictions.




Will wearing the clear aligners affect my speech?


You may notice a slight lisp at the beginning of your treatment, although this should go away within a few days.




Will I need to wear a retainer after my treatment to prevent my teeth from shifting?


You may require a retainer after your treatment. We will discuss and assist you with that at the end of your treatment.





Care of my Aligners

How do I clean my aligners?


Firstly, always brush your teeth before putting in your aligners and make sure to take them out to eat. To clean the aligners after use, mix liquid soap in a cup of warm water and let your aligners soak in that solution for about 20-30 minutes. Then simply rinse your aligners clean. You can also use a soft-bristle toothbrush to clean them. Never use hot water as it can damage the material.




How often do I clean my aligners?


To keep your aligners clean and maintain their transparency, clean them at least once a day.




What should I do if my aligners get damaged or lost?


If your aligners get damaged or lost, you can order a replacement set on the website.





Policies

What is the cancelation policy?


Treatment can be cancelled at any time for a refund as follows: Prior to the delivery of aligner trays, you may cancel for a full refund. If you have the aligners, you must return all items sent to you within 30 days of the delivery date. Bonus items can be returned to and accepted by us if they are in their originally sealed packaging. If you would like to keep any of the bonus items provided, you will only be charged for those items, and in accordance to their prices indicated in your package. If you choose to terminate your service at any time after receiving aligners, you may return all unused aligner trays in their original sealed packages. Aligners are returnable only prior to their prescribed use date. Upon receipt of returned aligners, we will reimburse you based on the proportion of unused aligners to the total number of aligners. The payment amount used for determining reimbursement will exclude the initial payment of $297. The initial payment of $297 will be applied only to bonus items, which you do not return. The bonus items that you keep will be charged in accordance to the prices indicated above. With all returns, you are responsible for the shipping.




What is the privacy policy?

Novel Technologies Inc. is the owner of Smile by Design and https://www.letsgetyousmiling.com. Everywhere in this document, we refer to Novel Technologies Inc. as Smile by Design.

This Policy is intended to provide you-our customer, clarity and comfort. It is provided in compliance with the Health Information Privacy Act. It describes how Smile by Design collects and uses your Personal information through our Website, through email, text, other electronic and written communications between you and Smile by Design.

Age of Consent

The use of our Website is permitted only to persons 18 years of age or older. Information pertaining to a person who is under the age of 18 may be provided by a parent or legal guardian of that person. If we become aware of information provided to us by a person under the age of 18, without the authority of a parent or legal guardian, we will remove that information and block access to that person.

We provide our products and services only to persons who are at least 12 years of age. Persons who are under the age of 18 but at least 12 who wish to purchase our products or services should ask their parent or legal guardian to provide us with the required information and purchase the products and services on their behalf. If we become aware of purchases made by persons under the age of 18 without the consent of a parent or guardian, we will cancel that sale.

If you discuss, comment, refer to your treatment, process, experience, service, or relationship with us in a public area of our website, on our social media venues, or on third party public area whether it is on a no-names basis or on an identified bases, you authorize us to respond to said comment as to correct, clarify, or provide context to the comments provided.

Information We Collect Through Automatic Data Collection Technologies

As you navigate through and interact with our Application and Website, we may use automatic data collection technologies to collect certain information about your equipment, browsing actions, and patterns, such as:

  • details of your visits to our Website or use of our Application, such as traffic data, location data, logs, referring/exit pages, date and time of your visit to our Website or use of our Application, error information, clickstream data, and other communication data and the resources that you access and use on the Website or in the Application; and

  • enforce our rights arising from contracts;
  • notify you about changes; and
  • provide you with notices about your account.

  • to provide your licensed dental provider and you with information, products, or services that your provider or you request from us;

  • to carry out our obligations and enforce our rights arising from any contracts entered into between you and us, including for billing and collection;
  • to notify you about changes to our Website or Application or any products or services we offer or provide though them;

  • Your licensed dental provider;
  • our subsidiaries and affiliates;
  • our third-party service providers, subcontractors, and business associates we use to support our business;
  • to any company we might merge with or acquire, or that buys us, or in the event of change in structure of our company of any form;
  • to comply with our legal obligations;
  • to enforce our rights; and
  • with your consent.

We do not share, sell, or otherwise disclose your Personal Data for purposes other than those outlined in this Privacy Policy. However, we may disclose without restriction aggregated information about our users and information that does not identify any individual. We may disclose Personal Data that we collect or that you provide as described in this privacy policy:

  • to your dental care provider;

Choices About How We Use and Disclose Your Information

We offer you choices on how you can opt out of our use of tracking technology, disclosure of your Personal Data for third-parties to market or advertise to you, our marketing or advertising to you, and other targeted marketing and advertising.

We do not control the collection and use of your information collected by third parties. When possible, these organizations are under contractual obligations (including through the use of Business Associate Agreements) to maintain appropriate safeguards and protections, to use this data only for providing the services to us, and to maintain this information strictly confidential. These third parties may, however, aggregate the information they collect with information from their other customers for their own purposes.

In addition, we strive to provide you with choices regarding the Personal Data you provide to us. We will only use your contact information to promote or market our own products and services through voice and text messages with your express consent. You may access and update your Personal Data at any time.

You can review and change your Personal Data by logging into the Website or Application and visiting your account profile page. You may also notify us by email at info@letsgetyousmiling.com of any changes or errors in any Personal Data we have about you to ensure that it is complete, accurate, and as current as possible. We may not be able to accommodate your request if we believe it would violate any law or legal requirement or cause the information to be incorrect.

  • Exercise free speech, ensure the right of another consumer to exercise his or her right of free speech, or exercise another right provided for by law;

  • If you have provided informed consent, engage in public or peer-reviewed scientific, historical, or statistical research in the public interest that adheres to all other applicable ethics and privacy laws, when our deletion of the information is likely to render impossible or seriously impair the achievement of such research;

Data Security

Information transmitted over the Internet is not completely secure, but we do our best to protect your Personal Data. You can help protect your Personal Data and other information by keeping your password to our Application and Website confidential.

Smile by Design is headquartered in the Province of Ontario, Canada. For the purpose of this agreement, all products and services purchased from Smile by Design shall be deemed to have been purchased in the Province on Ontario.

By consenting the policy, you are agreeing that the policy shall be interpreted in accordance with the laws of Canada and the Province of Ontario. In the event of a dispute or challenge to the terms and conditions of this policy, you agree that said challenge shall be brought forward only the Province of Ontario.




What are the payment plan requirements?


For the 12 month single arch payment plan

  • There is a required deposit of $297
  • A $97 will apply monthly for a total of $1,297
  • The balance of $1,000 is payable upon review of the treatment video and then upon payment, we will build aligner trays
For the 18 month multi-arch payment plan
  • There is a required deposit of $297
  • A $97 will apply monthly for a total of $1,797
  • The balance of $1,500 is payable upon review of the treatment video and then upon payment, we will build aligner trays




What are the terms and conditions?


Please review the following terms of use ("Agreement"), which govern your use of https://www.letsgetyousmiling.com (Website) and the shopping and other services (the "Services") offered on the Site. Your use of the Site and/or registration for any Services will constitute your agreement to comply with the terms of this Agreement. If you cannot agree to and comply with this Agreement and its requirements, please do not use the Services and exit the Site.

Additional Terms and Conditions

In addition to Terms and Conditions, herein, you are acknowledging that you are aware of the Privacy Policy and the Returns Policy which are accessible by way of the links provided in this paragraph and through our Website. The Website, as a whole and in part, is protected by copyright, trademark, service mark, trade name, and other intellectual property and other proprietary rights, and all other applicable rights are reserved.

Site Information is Provided "As Is"

Site Information is provided "as is" with all faults. You use the Site Information, as authorized herein, at your own risk. Site Information may contain errors, omissions, or typographical errors or may be out of date. The Site may change, delete or update any Site Information at any time and without prior notice.

Use of the Service By You

You may view and use the Site Information only for your personal information and for shopping and ordering on the Site. Except as set forth in this Agreement, the Site does not grant to you any right to use, reproduce, copy, modify, transfer, display, publish, sell, license, create derivative works, publicly perform, or distribute by any means, method or process any Site Information. Eligibility to Use the Site and the Services

The Site and the Services are not intended for users under the age of 18. To register for any Services offered on the Site, you must be 18 years of age or older. If you are a minor under the age of 18, you may only use the Site in conjunction with your parents or guardians. Smile by Design does not knowingly collect personally identifiable information from users under the age of 13. Children under 13 should not use the Site. If a child under 13 submits information through any part of the Site, and Smile by Design becomes aware that the person submitting the information is a child, we will attempt to delete this information as soon as possible.

Freight Term, Title Transfer

Unless otherwise noted, products shall be shipped directly from our facility, regardless of prepaid freight by Smile by Design or express freight paid by the customer. Title to and risk of loss to products shall pass to Buyer upon shipment. Neither the time method nor place of payment, method of shipment, form of shipping document, nor place of acceptance of Buyer's order shall alter the foregoing.

Disclaimer or Warranty and Limitation of Liability

You acknowledge that you are using the site and the services at your own risk. You agree that any and all purchases of products and services from smile by design, whether chargeable provided at no cost and whether paid or otherwise shall be deemed to have a point of sale in the Province of Ontario, Canada. You agree that this Agreement, for all purposes, shall be governed and construed in accordance with the laws of the Province of Ontario and any action based on or alleging a breach of this Agreement must be brought in a provincial court in the Province of Ontario. In addition, both parties agree to submit to the exclusive personal jurisdiction and venue of such courts.

What is the return policy?


We, at Smile by Design want to give you reasons to smile. That is why we provide you a 30-day risk-free guarantee for all our products. Although you may receive items in separate deliveries, the risk-free period will apply to each item beginning from the day that item is delivered to you.

Please review the appropriate sections below and see how it may apply to you.

Impression kit and bonus items

If you choose to return your impression kit, during the Risk-Free period, along with any unopened bonus items provided to you, we will refund your entire deposit. Just pack all items in original packaging and ship it to us (at your expense). Please make sure to inform us of the tracking number. Upon receipt of the returned items, we will refund your deposit.

You may keep any bonus item. You will be charged only for that item. The prices of those items are shown on our website.

Clear aligners Risk-Free

If you are not happy once you try your first aligner set, you may return all aligners to us, during the Risk-Free period, to receive a full refund.

If you choose to keep any bonus item delivered to you along with the aligners, you will be charged only for the item you keep. Please remember, bonus items can only be accepted in their sealed, original packaging.

Treatment Cancellation

You may return aligners after the 30-day Risk-Free period, for a partial refund. Just inform us of your intention to cancel treatment and return all remaining aligners in their original sealed packages prior to their scheduled treatment period. Upon receipt of the aligners, we will refund to you the portion of unused treatment, less $15 handling fee for each returned aligner. You will also be charged for bonus items which have been provided to you.

Just remember, you are responsible for any shipping charges when returning your clear aligners or any bonus or gift item.

Smile Guarantee

Prior to sending your aligners to you, we will send you a video treatment plan. The video will show you how your teeth are expected to transform at each step, and how they are expected to look at end of treatment.

If you follow the treatment and check-in instructions but have not achieved the expected smile, you may request a re-evaluation within 30 days of the treatment end date. If your orthodontist requires new impressions, we will send you an impression kit, or arrange for either an impression or a dental scan to be provided for you at an affiliate clinic, near you. The orthodontist may also require you to obtain and provide radiographs or other dental records.

We will provide the additional necessary aligners to you at no charge, to achieve the designed smile!

Return Process

Please follow these steps when returning your purchase:

  • Pack your unused items in the original packaging.
  • Include all original packing materials, manuals and accessories.
  • Let us know you’re planning to return your aligners by emailing info@letsgetyousmiling.com or by sending us a message on your portal of our website.
  • Send the package by Fedex or UPS to Smile by Design at 11 Denmark Crescent, Toronto, Ontario M2R 1J3
  • Make sure to obtain a tracking number from the courier and inform us of the number by email or at your portal of our website.

Receiving Refunds

Once we receive and process your return, we’ll email you to let you know your refund has been issued. You’ll typically see your refund on your credit card statement within 10 days depending on your financial institution.

Faulty Items

If you believe that you received a defective product and wish us to replace it, return it in the same way as any returned item. Please make sure to inform us of a tracking number for the package. Upon receipt of the item, we will examine it and will return a replacement item.

Jurisdiction

Smile by Design is headquartered in the Province of Ontario, Canada. For the purpose of this agreement, all products and services purchased from Smile by Design shall be deemed to have been purchased in the Province on Ontario.

By consenting the policy, you are agreeing that the policy shall be interpreted in accordance with the laws of Canada and the Province of Ontario. In the event of a dispute or challenge to the terms and conditions of this policy, you agree that said challenge shall be brought forward only the Province of Ontario.
